Ram 1500 Classic

The fourth-generation Ram truck, the 1500 Classic, is a well-liked option for anyone looking for a dependable and low-key driving experience. The 1500 Classic, with its antiquated technology and powertrains, is still in production and provides a straightforward ride with a cozy cabin and a maximum towing capacity of 10,620 pounds. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, four-wheel disc brakes, a heavy-duty suspension, and an off-roading kit with a one-inch factory raise are all standard. Competitors charge more but provide a greater variety of body types and configurations. The Ram 1500 Classic is still a well-liked option for anyone looking for a flavor of the past, despite its flaws.

What's new for 2024?

The eight-foot bed and the two-door standard cab variant are no longer available from Ram. The crew cab and extended cab with their shorter beds remain. If not, the 1500 Classic will remain just as its users have always liked it when it comes to 2024.

Pricing and Trims

The 2024 Ram 1500 Classic is available in two trim levels, Tradesman and Warlock, just like it was last year. Ram no longer provides the eight-foot bed and two-door standard cab model, unlike previous year. There are now just two four-door variants available to customers: a crew cab model with ample of space and an extended cabin type with less legroom in the back seat. There are five-foot seven-inch and six-foot four-inch beds available across the range.

Power and Efficiency

A 3.6-liter V6 engine with 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque powers the 1500 Classic. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear- or four-wheel drive option for consumers. A limited-slip rear differential is an option.

Capacity for Payload and Towing

The 2024 Ram 1500 Classic can tow up to 4,610 pounds, or 10,620 pounds if it has the optional eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic gearbox and HEMI. The maximum cargo capacity of the 1500 Classic is 1,927 lbs.

Fuel Efficiency

All of the Ram 1500 Classic's models have excellent fuel efficiency. The Tradesman Quad Cab 2WD, powered by a V6 engine, is rated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at 20 mpg combined (17/25 mpg city/highway), while the 4WD variant achieves 19 mpg combined (16/23 mpg city/highway). For the Tradesman with the HEMI V8, the figures significantly decrease to 17 mpg combined (15/20 mpg).
These figures are lower than those of more recent trucks in the class, but that is to be anticipated given that the latter have more fuel-efficient engines and other improvements. The EPA rates the new Ram with similar equipment at 22 mpg combined (20/25 mpg in the city and highway).

Interior

There are two cab sizes available for the Ram 1500 Classic: crew and extended. Both have four doors and can accommodate six people. While the front seat size is comparable for both, the crew cab has 40.3 inches of more legroom, which is perfect for adults or teens. Although the new Ram 1500 has 45.2 inches of rear room, the 1500 Classic's backseat capacity is little less than that of the new Ram 1500. The air conditioning and music system have big, convenient-to-reach controls on a modern dashboard with strong, durable materials. Although the gauge cluster is dial-controlled and has analog black and silver instruments instead of the completely digital gauge clusters found in most rivals, the gauge cluster is antiquated.

Connectivity and Entertainment

Considering that the Ram 1500 Classic is built on a 16-year-old chassis below it all, it looks fantastic. Concerning the typical entertainment system, this is untrue. The 5.0-inch touchscreen is small, antiquated, and has a sluggish response time. By 2024, it will be almost essential to get the optional 8.4-inch touchscreen, Uconnect 4C NAV, which is a nice addition. It has a navigation system in addition to Apple truckPlay and Android Auto, which are features that many consumers these days can't live without. Ram has an excellent audio system in terms of sound quality.

Safety

Other than a backup camera, the 2024 Ram 1500 Classic lacks any standard driver-assistance technology. However, full-speed forward collision warning plus, which combines automated emergency braking with forward collision warning, and rear parking sensors are possible options. There are no options for features like automated high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, or lane-keeping assistance. The new Ram comes with such characteristics.

Conclusion

If you cherished the older model's design and more straightforward controls, the 2024 Ram 1500 Classic is the one to choose. It is a truck of the previous generation Ram pickup. It is also less costly than the most recent model of Ram, which makes sense considering that the latter is more robust, potent, and opulent.
